Madam Vu picked up the tiny fairy and studied her closely. Her wings were quite large for such a tiny thing and the markings on them were none of which she recognized. With her very fair hair and her rich amber eyes, Madam Vu knew that this fairling was from very far away and sadly - abandoned.
After realizing this, Madam Vu carefully
wrapped the fairling in velvety petals and headed home.
She stopped at many villages along the way
asking questions about the abandoned fairling, but no answers were to be found.
After a long day of searching, Madam Vu sighed deeply as she stopped for a rest.
"And what, little one, shall you be called?" she wondered out loud. After a moment of consideration, Madam Vu held the fairling out with both hands and proudly declared: "Like the rare beauty of the Oradera Flower, you too shall be called Oradera . . . Oradera Vu!"
Then on they went, back to Madam Vus tree where Twilight and Pinks were eagerly awaiting their mothers arrival.
"Mother! Mother! What treasures from the people world did you find for us today?" they both squealed as they came flying to greet her.
"Did you find me the feather from a bird bright red?" asked Twilight.
"Or did you find me a shiny bow from a little girls head?" guessed Pinks.
"Children, children," started their mother, "splendid news! I bring you both - a new SISTER!"
"A SISTER?!?" both girls asked with obvious disappointment - and obvious disgust.
"From the people world?" asked a horrified Twilight.
"No, no, shes a fairling!" explained Madam Vu.
"Ma," whispered the younger fairling in her coarse voice, "her hair is a funny color, and so are her eyes, and everything else about her is . . . funny too."
"Yes, yes, children, she is not one of us, but she is one who is in need of us," informed Madam Vu, "so I do expect you two to treat her as you do each other . . . understood?
"Yes mother," replied both girls reluctantly.
